Healthy life culture are becoming a trend recently. At least for the middle to top society. This is based on the number of components of food that contains lots of preservative, also vegetables and fruits that use a lot of pesticide and stimulant drugs such as chemical fertilizers or non-organic. Based on the healthy life culture, some large hypermarket has been providing organic food. And the demand for healthy food is increasing time after time.

Of course this is an interesting business opportunity, especially for those who have agricultural land. If you feel boring planting with the use of pesticides and non-organic fertilizer, you can try this business. Products are sold at prices above the price of agricultural products on average. In other words, it is quite profitable, although the risk of the business is also quite large. Such as the failed harvest or pest attack. It is necessary to do some right preparations so that harvest from our organic garden can be successful and in accordance with the requirements as organic food. Here are some procedures that must be obeyed if you want to farm organically.

Location

Location must be free of contamination from chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides. In the case of location, organic farming may be done in the green house or outside the green house. While you may not make determination of the location that can disrupt, damage, or conflict with the environment.

Fertilization

Need to use organic fertilizers such as compost, natural fertilizers (manure, guano, plant waste, etc.), ash, and natural rock (rock phosphate, limestone, dolomite, etc.). However, still allowed to use the liquid fertilizer / microbes as long as that does not contain inorganic chemicals. Advisable to maintain fertility and crop rotation using the concept of land conservation. Which is prohibited to use artificial fertilizers / chemicals. In addition, fertilization should not give negative impact to the environment. Natural fertilizer can not be used directly, it must be through the decomposition process first.

Seeds / seedlings

Seeds and seedlings that are used must be healthy. The seed should be free from chemical pesticides. While the seedlings of the treatment with chemical pesticides can not be used. Generally, seeds that are sold in the market using insecticide / fungicide. Because the impact is very small, the seed can be used. If possible, seed may produce its own. Seedlings using insecticide or fungicide may not be used.

Seeding

The process of seedbed should be free from the influence of chemical fertilizer, pesticide chemicals, or growth regulator substances. The seed can be planted directly or seeded first. May not use any kind of inorganic chemicals, including the growth regulator substances.

Planting

Can be planted in the greenhouse or planted outside the room. Planting time, planting distance, etc.., should be recorded regularly.

Irrigation

Water used should be free from the influence of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Must be supported by an adequate irrigation system. Water for sprinkling can use farm waste water. Would be better if the water from livestock waste processed first. The process of irrigation / sprinkling may not have additional elements that come from the burly man-made fertilizers / chemicals.

Plant maintenance

Maintenance weeding plants must be physically or manually, thinning without the help of chemicals. The addition of organic material after planting can be done. The use of plastic and shade could be implemented. Use of chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides can not be done. Plants treatment may not give a negative impact on the environment

Pest Control

Protection of plants must be free from the use of chemical pesticides. Must use some of the ways in implementing the Integrated Pest Control, such as set irrigation, multiple cropping, crop rotation, the breeding of predators, etc.. To ensure that this is actually implemented, there must be a periodic training. Use of this way must meet the “six right” : the right type, time, dose, concentration, how, and application tools.

Pest control permitted use of biological insecticide like B. thuringiensis or insecticide made from artificial organic materials, such as pyrethrum synthetic. Another organic insecticides, such as tobacco leaf extracts, mindi, onions, can be used. Organic fungicide made from turmeric extract etc.. can be used. It is recommended to use disease-resistant varieties, in example on potatoes the use of True Potatoes Seeds will be better because it does not require any fungicide. It is advisable to analyze randomly of residues in the production generated.
